10 am 105 History of Wood Block Prints Master Brian mac Tomais History and application of wood block prints in Period. Carved examples for King Hirsch and Queen Magdalena's Reign will be available to view.
10 am 106 Vellum Preparation Lady Sabi Constance Using Vellum is not a scary as you think. Learn how to prepare a piece of vellum so that it is ready for your use. You will receive a small piece of vellum and sandpaper so you can actually get the feel of the process. Maximum Students: 8 Minimum Age: 16 Course Fee: (For Materials Used In Class Only) $3.00
10 am 107 How to make Paint Brushes HL Angharad ferch Moriddig Hir Learn how to make your own paint brushes by following Master Cennini's instructions. Maximum Students: 15; Minimum age: 12; Course Fee: $3.00
10-Noon 112 Basic Whitework and Diapering Mistress Fionnuala Inghean Fhearghuis Class is a basic discussion of whitework techniques and placement. As well as a discussion of various diapering patterns and common characteristics. There will be a hands-on session so that the scribe can practice the techniques with the instructor available to answer specific questions. Minimum Age: 12; Class Fee: $2.00. Students will be able to take home a brush.

11 am 105 How to Self-Teach Calligraphy Master Brian mac Tomais Inspiration, tips and resources all you will need to set up your own practice sessions
11 am 106 Shading Techniques used by Italian Masters HL Suzanne de la Ferté Students will learn to use charcoal and/or pen and ink to achieve the various shading effects produced by the master artists of the Italian Renaissance. The works of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Sebastiano del Piombo will be used as sources. Maximum students: 12; Age Minimum: 10; Course Fee: $3.00 for class handout. Buy a kit for $7.00 or come with (Charcoal paper, pen, sandpaper block, kneaded eraser, chamois, tortillons, vine charcoal-extra soft, soft, medium, hard). If wearing good garb, bring an apron or something to cover your clothes.
11 am 107 Making Quills and Practicing with Period Ink Mistress Cassandra di Capelletti Hands on class for anyone who wants to try out quills whether they already know calligraphy or have never tried it. Background information given on the use of quills in period. No Class Fee. Provided are feathers, ink, period style paper to play with.
2 pm 104 Illumination Shading Techniques HL Annika die Ruuscherin Creating darks and lights while illuminating and painting. Materials needed are pencil and paper.
2 pm 105 Medieval Paper Master Mighel le Brewere The history and development of paper throughout the Middle Ages. Handmade paper examples made using medieval techniques will be available.
2 pm 106 Painting with Egg Tempura Countess Katrine Thoroffsdottir An overview of what egg tempera is & how it was used in period, followed by a demonstration of how to prepare egg tempera paint using period materials.  Students will be able to play with the prepared paint to better understand the correct consistency & methods needed to use egg tempera.  Minimum age 18 unless accompanied by parent or guardian due to potentially toxic period materials.
2 pm 107 Portraiture or How to make Faces Look Like Faces HL Suzanne de la Ferté Students learn portraiture basics---proportions and shading along with some tips and tricks. The works of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Sebastiano del Piombo will be used as sources. Maximum students: 12 AgeMinimum:10 Course Fee: $3.00 for class handout Materials supplied by Students: paper (sketch pad), pen & ink charcoal or pencil. 2-5pm 112 Painting Squished Bugs & Flowers: Scattered & Strewn Borders Mistress Fionnuala Inghean Fhearghuis This class focuses on the common characteristics of the Flemish"scattered and strewn" borders, as well as a discussion on shadow placement, realism in painting, and symbolism. A hands-on portion will follow to demonstrate the techniques discussed. Please bring your own brushes and pallettes. Minimum Age: 12 Skill Level: Experienced Beginner to Intermediate
3 pm 104 Survey of drapery treatments for Figures HL Rolf Hobart Looking at drapery styles  from 800-1600 of Western Europe and some neighboring countries.
3 pm 105 How to Draw and Paint Medieval People HL Annika die Ruuscherin Drawing and painting basic medieval men and women. Materials needed are pencil and paper.
3 pm 106 Iconography Countess Katrine Thoroffsdottir An overview of iconography.  Includes the origins, how icons were used & the social & religious significance of the art of icon writing.  We will cover the process that the icon writer takes to prepare for & carry out the writing of the icon, including preparation of materials.
3-5pm 107 Period Pigments HL Jehanne Bening This class will let you play with earth pigments without a lot of effort. Feel what medieval artists' felt as they combined binder and dry pigments to make paint. Se the sineness and texture of the paint and binder; test their individual charactericstics yourself. Create paint samples you can take away to use with your own tube colors. Prereqs: Comfortable using gouache tube paint. Max Students: 9 Minimum Age: 12 Course Fee: $2.00 (For materials used in class only)
4 pm 104 Exercises in monochromatic painting on colored backgrounds HL Rolf Hobart Will provide students with materials to practice different monochromatic techniques of the 15th and 16th centuries.
4 pm 105 Reading Medieval Calendars HL Eric St. Leger Making sense of the arcane and cryptic calendars in Books of Hours and an education concerning medieval time and date keeping practices.
4 pm 106 Heraldry for Scribes Countess Lyriel de le Foret, OL Getting the resources you will need to translate Heraldic terms for scribal illumination.
2-5pm 108b Making Your Own Quill (Heat-and-Cure Method) Countess Margarette de St. Martin Sur Mer, OL In this quill-making class, you will learn about the appropriate feathers to use, as well as the attributes of various feathers, how to clean and prep the quill, how to cut your own quill and various techniques for achieving different nibs, and a method of heating and curing the quill that will provide years of use from the same quill. Class limit 10; 16 year age requirement; no class fee.
